ABOUT IRINA WEBB
When my son was born, I chose not to return to my job as a financial analyst at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. Instead, I used my 9 years of college education to become a full-time consumer educator and advocate.
For the first three years, I immersed myself in scientific and medical literature, studied the ingredients in consumer products, and asked questions of manufacturers, chemists, medical doctors, naturopaths, nutritionists, cosmetologists, environmental agencies, consumer product agencies, and nonprofits.
The truth is, there is no college degree that teaches you how to evaluate the safety of consumer products in a practical, real-life way.
Today, consumer product research, consumer education, and advising manufacturers and retailers are my full-time work and livelihood. Some manufacturers come to me for guidance on choosing safer ingredients for their products. I also advise retailers on which products are safe enough to carry.
